Outlaws Go 'Old School'

DENVER -- The fans at Sports Authority Field at Mile High witnessed two smiling-producing shows on Saturday night.

First, more than 8,000 fans saw the Denver Outlaws beat the Rochester Rattlers 16-12. Then those fans were invited to take to the field themselves after the game and stay to watch movie Old School

The win places the 5-2 Outlaws in a tie for second place with the Boston Cannons in MLL standings.

Socks came flying onto the field midway through the third quarter as Brendan Mundorf put in his sixth goal of the night for his third career "sock-trick." Mundorf finished the night with 6 goals and 2 assists and earned Bud Light Player of the Game honors. His 8 points tied him for third for the most points scored in a single game in Outlaws history.

Also taking the spotlight for the Outlaws was attackman Jordan McBride who had his hat trick before the fourth quarter with all of the assists coming from midfielder Peet Pollion.

The offense was locked and loaded in the middle of the matchup with six goals in both the second and the third quarter. The scoring wealth was widely distributed with nine different Outlaws players scoring goals.

It was attackman Chris Bocklet that earned MLL Rookie of the Week honors last week. This week, it was his older brother, defenseman Matt Bocklet tossing in one goal and one assist.

The Rattlers couldn't quite put the bite that they needed to on the Outlaws as they dropped to 2-4. The Rattlers, however, finish off the better part of their season at home with six of their next seven games in Rochester.

While Mundorf stole the show, this was truly a team win. The defense held steady and goalie Jesse Schwartzman put up 16 saves on 27 shots on the goal.

After winning their first three games of the season and falling behind with two consecutive losses, the Outlaws are back on the winning track before they hit the road.

The Outlaws next play on June 23 when the team takes on the 4-2 Long Island Lizards.

The team returns home for its annual Independance Day Celebration Game, which will be held on July 4 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. To be a part of a record-setting lacrosse crowd purchase tickets via or over the phone at 303-OUTLAWS.
