ANNAPOLIS, MD. – The Outlaws clicked in all phases of the game early, using an 11-0 first-half run to jump in front and never looked back, coasting to a 15-9 victory over Chesapeake in the final game of the regular season.

With the win, Denver finishes the regular season with a 7-5 record – the team’s sixth winning season in its six-year history. Boston is the only other MLL franchise to have more than five winning seasons in its history with seven winning seasons in its 11 years in the league.

Brendan Mundorf kicked off the scoring at the 2:19 mark with his 26th tally of the season.

Kyle Dixon answered to tie the game 1-1 just over one minute later, before the Outlaws took over.

Mundorf netted his second of the contest, Brian Langtry scored on a man-up opportunity and Terry Kimener added a goal to put the Outlaws in front 4-1 after one quarter of play.

Denver dominated the second quarter to the tune of an 8-0 margin in the period, including an astounding seven goals in a span of just 3:58.

Mundorf started the stanza off with a shorthanded tally – his league leading third shorthanded goal of the year.

Mundorf would add two more markers and an assist in the quarter, giving him five goals and two assists before the intermission.

Drew Westervelt, Sean DeLaney, Jarett Park, Peet Poillon and Billy Bitter each added scores in the period, pushing the Outlaws to a 12-1 halftime advantage.

Jesse Schwartzman held the Bayhawks scoreless for a stretch of 26:44 to end the first half, saving 7-of-8 (.875) shots on goal.

The lone goal scored by Chesapeake in the first half set a new franchise record and the zero goals allowed by Denver in the second quarter marked just the third time in franchise history that an opponent has been shut out in a quarter. The Outlaws also shut out Boston at INVESCO Field at Mile High in the second quarter on July 3rd of this season.

The Bayhawks cut into their deficit in the third quarter, outscoring the Outlaws 5-2 in the period.

Westervelt buried his second of the game just 45 seconds into the second half, before Ben Rubeor ended the Outlaws’ 12-0 run with a goal for the Bayhawks at the 3:53 mark.

Poillon answered to push Denver’s lead to 14-2, the largest lead for the Outlaws on the evening.

Chesapeake responded with four consecutive goals, including one 2-pointer, to cut the Outlaws’ lead to 14-6 after three quarters.

Danny Glading extended the Bayhawks run to 6-0 with a tally to open the fourth quarter. Glading would score three goals in the final frame, but it would be too little, too late for Chesapeake. Bitter capped the Outlaws scoring with a man-up goal, and the Outlaws rolled to a 15-9 victory.

The Outlaws will return to Navy-Marine Corps Stadium at 1 p.m. MDT on Saturday, Aug. 27 as the No. 2 seed for the 2011 MLL Playoff Tournament. Denver will be playing for the franchise’s first Steinfeld Cup title and will take on the No. 3 seeded Hamilton, depending on other results from around the league tonight.
